About Louie Montan
I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I secretly hoped every gift-wrapped box under the Christmas tree would bark when I opened it. (Spoiler: it was actually a small color TV the time I was certain I was getting a puppy!)
For years, I lived with cats because they fit my lifestyle, but everything changed when I met my wife – and her little Maltese, Shillah. That tiny dog opened my heart in a way I didn’t expect, and from then on, I was hooked.
When Shillah grew older, we welcomed Sage, a wise and joyful Maltese-Bichon mix who taught me just how much a dog can enrich daily life. From agility training to long walks, Sage made me fall in love with every part of being a dog owner. That love inspired me to start a successful dog walking business on Long Island, which my wife and I later brought with us to Florida.
Over the years, I’ve learned everything I could about dogs – first aid, nutrition, training, exercise, senior care, and even the heartbreaking but important part of end-of-life support. I’ve cared for blind dogs, anxious dogs, energetic puppies, and everything in between. While I’m not a vet, my experience comes from a lifetime of hands-on care, constant learning, and a deep respect for our four-legged family members.
Through News for Dog Lover, I share what I’ve learned – the joys, challenges, and small everyday tips that help us all make the most of life with our dogs. My goal is simple: to help you build the happiest, healthiest bond possible with your best friend.
